Mountain and Flood
by
George Blake
This is the difinative account of the 52nd Lowland Division during the Second World War. It is the unofficial, official account. It is no longer in print but is available on Amazon and is well worth a read for those interested not only in the Division but in the war from a British perspective in general. It also has several appendix sections with information ranging from Honours and Awards to Order of battle. If you can find it, buy it. You wont be disappointed.

"Battle for the Roer Triangle"
by
Kevin Connor & Har Gootzen

An in depth look at the 52nd (Lowland) Division and in particular the Battle for the Roer Triangle - Operation Blackcock. detailed accounts of the make up of the division from top to bottom, veterans own stories and a detailed examination of a little known battle.

"With the Jocks"
by
Peter White

If you enjoyed Band of Brothers" then this is a country mile better. Peter White writes from his war time diary a  vivid account of his and his Jocks' experiences in the 4th Battalion the KOSB from its embarkation to the continent up to the end of the war. It reads like a novel and in my opinion is far better than Band of Brothers.

"Uniforms of the WW2 Tommy"
by
David B Gordon

Packed full of detail regarding British uniforms and equipment with loads of pictures of insignia. A real must for the Tommy Re-enactor.

Footprints in the Clouds - Jeep tracks in the Snow
by
Geoffrey Tudor
This is a cracking read. This book is a must for those with an interest in the Royal Artillery, the 52nd Division and the British Army in WW2. Tudor takes us on his journey from his days training in the mountains of Scotland to follow in the footsteps of Peter Whites Jocks. It's written in a style very similar to With the Jocks and is just as good. It's also, in my opinion, a much better story that Band of Brothers. If you read this then With the Jocks, or vice-versa, you will get a real taste of what the 52nd Division was all about.

 To the Victor the Spoils
by
Sean Longden
Described as "...the sex, drugs and rock and roll of the 21st Army Group". This is what really happened on the road to Berlin. I couldn't put this down. It's the most astonishing book I've ever read on the subject.

The Forgotten Highlander
by
Alistair Urquhart
true story of a young Gordon Highlander from Aberdeen. Shipped to Singapore and captured by the Japanese. A really moving story with a horrifying twist.

Armageddon
by
Max Hastings.
Fantastic book. A must for anyone interested the allied journey from into Germany in D-Day and the Soviet assault into Berlin. Couldn't put it down.

DUNKIRK - Fight to the last man.
by
Hugh Sebag-Montefiore
This a really well researched book, well balanced and full of facts rather than opinions. Wouldn't have thought it would be on the best seller list in Paris but it is honest and pulls no punches.

Jungle Soldier
by
Brian Moynahan
Another true story about the very excentric Freddy Spencer Chapman. He must have been a most remarkable man.
If you think you're tough, have a gander at this and think again.
